What is the HIP database?
The Hospital Inpatient Profiles (HIP) database provides a quick and comprehensive overview
of hospital-based activity for over 7,100 diagnoses and procedures. Utilization
can be accessed conveniently by disease name, procedure name, or ICD code. The HIP
includes total procedures, total discharges, the top six concomitant diagnoses and
procedures, average length of stay, age/gender breakouts, discharge status, payment
source, and more.
